This page contains a table of information regarding the major meridians plus a pictorial representation of the relationship between the meridians.

Gallbladder (GB) wood yang (11pm-1am)
Liver (LV) wood yin (1am-3am)
Lung (LU) metal yin (3am-5am)
Large Intestine (LI) metal yang (5am-7am)
Stomach (ST) earth yang (7am-9am)
Spleen (SP) earth yin (9am-11am)
Heart (HT) fire yin (11am-1pm)
Small Intestine (SI) fire yang (1pm-3pm)
Bladder (BL) water yang (3pm-5pm)
Kidney (KI) water yin (5pm-7pm)
Pericardium (PC) fire yin (7pm-9pm)
Triple Warmer (TW) fire yang (9pm-11pm)

 

 

The above table shows the name of the 12 major meridians & each meridian's abbreviation, which is found on various acupuncture charts. It also names which element each individual meridian is associated with, along with the hour that that particular meridian is most active.

 

There are two extra-ordinary meridians that are most important to martial artists (although there are a number of others), these are;

 

The Conception Vessel (CV)

The Governing Vessel (GV)

There are 24 patterns in Taekwondo, ranging from 19 move patterns to 72 move patterns. The initial patterns are very symmetrical & most combinations or movements are repeated with both sides of the body, in opposite directions.
